Frequently Asked Questions
Quick, straight answers about how Livifi works, what it’s good for, and what it isn’t.
How accurate are Livifi’s cost of living estimates?
Livifi is designed to be directionally accurate rather than exact. It uses real cost-of-living data and tax modeling to help you compare cities and understand your potential disposable income. For a person matching the lifestyle profile you select, results typically land within 5–15% of real-world spending—more than enough to make confident comparisons, but not a substitute for personal budgeting.
Why use Livifi instead of other cost-of-living tools?
Most tools just show prices. Livifi shows how much you actually have left after taxes and expenses, so you can compare cities based on real financial outcomes—not abstract indexes. That makes it easier to answer the question that really matters: “Will I live better here, or there?”
Who is Livifi for?
Livifi is built for people considering relocating, working remotely, negotiating a salary in a new market, or simply comparing cities based on affordability and lifestyle. If you’ve ever asked “Could I afford to live there?”—Livifi is for you.
Where does Livifi get its data?
Livifi uses aggregated cost-of-living datasets from publicly available sources, including data derived from Numbeo, combined with its own modeling and normalization. Snapshots are refreshed periodically rather than streamed in real time. Tax and social-contribution rules are maintained per country. See our methodology for the full breakdown.
How is disposable income calculated?
Livifi starts from your gross income, applies country-specific income tax and social contributions, then subtracts estimated monthly expenses based on the city, housing type, lifestyle, and dependents you select. What’s left is your modeled disposable income—the number that lets you compare cities apples-to-apples.
Which cities and countries are supported?
Livifi covers thousands of cities across 97+ countries, with full tax modeling for major economies in Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. Coverage expands continuously as new data becomes available.
Is Livifi free to use?
Yes. The calculator and all city pages are completely free. Advertisements help cover the cost of data updates and infrastructure—there are no paywalls or hidden tiers.
Do you store my income data?
No. Your calculator inputs are not stored or tied to a user account. Some calculations are processed server-side to generate results, but the data is not retained after processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.
